Basketball Overview
The Lincolnton Optimist Club (LOC) basketball league supports the youth of Lincoln County and the surrounding areas by offering a low-cost, competitive youth basketball league from December to March each year. Our exciting program focuses on growing the love and fundamentals of basketball.
Our recreational program appeals to boys and girls of all skill levels. Our league uses mandatory minimum play rules and modified rules in each division based on age levels.
Season Dates
Our season runs from early December (practices) to early March (championship games).
Age Divisions
The LOC basketball league is organized in the following age/grade brackets:
- K-1st (co-ed)
- 2nd-3rd (boys and girls)
- 4th-5th (boys and girls)
- 6th-8th (boys and girls)
*Divisions are evaluated each year based on the number of registrants and some age groups may be combined.
Teams
The Lincolnton Optimist Club uses player evaluations and prior season information to assist with parity within each division. This balance within each division creates exciting play and fun for all participants. All participants are required to participate in evaluations prior to the season to assist with the draft process for teams. Any player that does not participate in evaluations will be automatically assigned to a team.
Facilities
The LOC does not own any facilities. Each year, we partner with Lincoln County and Lincoln County Schools to rent local school facilities for practices and game days. A portion of registration fees helps cover the costs associated with these facilities.
- Practice - practices are held Monday-Friday, one night per week for an hour. These will be held at Pumpkin Center Intermediate School or Battleground Elementary School.
- Games - games are played on Saturday at Lincolnton High School or Battleground Elementary School.
